Tra le applicazioni trova impiego in campo spaziale per il collaudo di sistemi di alimentazione di bordo per antenne Radar attive (SAR) il cui assorbimento è impulsivo, e non costante, dovuto alla modalità tipica funzionale di un’antenna attiva che ha necessità di una grande quantità di energia nel solo istante di trasmissione.

EGSE – Battery Condition Unit (BCE or BCUTE)

This equipment is designed to simulate the operations during the operative lifetime of the satellite. The BCE can Charge and Discharge the battery, control the thermal chamber and controls the parameters to avoid damage.
The Main module of the BCE is the Elital CDU (charge Discharge Unit) rack module, that is in charge of connect, and control with own protection circuit, the battery with the instruments of the BCE on each operation.

EGSE – Umbilical SCOE
The Umbilical Test Equipment provides the following main functions for satellite testing:
- Power supply to S/C buses,
- Charging and mainteining of on-board batteries,
- TM and TC signals processing,
- Event record and simulation,
- Measuring and acquisition of signals came from the S/C
- Event creation to S/C
- The safety Unit, to cut off the connection between the Umbilical and the Spacecraft.
The Equipment is controlled locally by the windows PC and it’s remote connected to be drived by the OCOE.
The main functions of the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) are controlled by the local Windows PC srver type hardware and integrated into the standard Rack. All the instrument are controlled by the local PC through own communication bus.
The main functions of the Umbilical SCOE are:
- Adapt S/C umbilical connectors and distribute signal lines,
- Handle and route TM/TC signals trough umbilical lines (N&R)
- Provide signal test point intarface panel,
- Monitor and display signals from S/C,
- Provide external power for S/C operation via umbilical plug,
- Power supply regulation (trough hte Bus Voltage from the S/C) and voltage compensation at S/C interface connector,
- Provide Battery conditioning function
- Provide Over Voltage protection (OVP)
- Provide Over Current Protection (OIP)
- Simulate and monitor inhibition and separation straps,
- Pyro inhibition capability (1N + 1R) and status monitor,
- Provide High power commands capability
- Acquire and display battery voltages of the on-board batteries,
- Acquire battery thermistors
- Monitor and controls of the main bus voltage
- Manage the safety loop

EGSE – Main Power Distribution Unit (MPDU)
The Main Power Distribution Unit allows to supply all ATE needed to support the satellite integration and test.
The MPDU can be capable to supply up to 50KVA (6, 12, 25 and 50) of power, distributed in 15 service plug of 220Vac ± 10%,
The power input is 380Vac ± 10%, 50 Hz ± 1Hz (R,S,T, GND) or 208Vac ± 10%, 60 Hz ± 1Hz (R,S,T, GND).
The input voltage is selected via manual selector.
The MPDU provides input isolation transformer to allow power line and ground separation, and voltage transformation. This transformer is equipped with two electrical shields between the primary winding and core, and secondary winding and core.
